Revised About

KATHERINE ADAMENKO, MA, CHWC, RYT, CPT

websize final retouch Mary 20185I’ve lived my life in the worlds of exercise and the arts. I began dancing at three and bodybuilding at 19. I am as passionate about positive psychology and behavior change as much as I am dedicated to the stage, the page and the studio. Together, they’ve helped to cultivate what I like to call “the science and art of living.”

In my full-time career, I specialize in workplace well-being, designing, implementing, and managing global well-being strategies and programming. I’ve worked in the retail, financial, and legal sectors encouraging and enabling thousands of people to live healthier and happier lives. Prior that, I spent half a decade as a personal trainer and master instructor motivating people get moving. Something I continued to do as a group fitness and cycle instructor.

After five years of blogging on general well-being, I’ve shifted gears to specifically focus on bipolar II well-being. Although I was diagnosed in my early 20s, it took another (and final) re-diagnosis nearly 20 years later to accept it. Now I’ve spent the past decade in recovery. In fact, my recovery went hand in hand with the development of my wellness career. I applied the very wellness principles and practices to myself that I was giving to others on the job. I also diligently took my prescribed medication and sought therapy, both of which I happily do today.

Why a blog specifically for bi-polar II well-being? Because my mission is to help end the suffering that this disorder can bring and give hope that it’s entirely possible to thrive with it. I am living proof that applying scientifically-based wellness practices can increase your overall well-being and perhaps mitigate the severity, duration and length of bi-polar II symptoms as it did for me.

Please send this blog to someone you know living with bipolar disorder, or to a family member, friend or caregiver of someone who is.

As someone living with a chronic mental illness, I know how important well-being is to living a well-balanced life. As a wellness coach, yoga teacher, fitness expert and performing artist, I have a pretty good idea how to motivate you to live a healthier, happier and more satisfying life. Let’s be well together.
